Lucknow: The state govt has given administrative and financial approval for the construction of a Bachpan Day Care Centre in Mirzapur district.

The first instalment of Rs 2 crore has been released for the centre, which will be built at a total cost of Rs. 3.28 crore. These centres will be operated in the 18 divisional districts of the state for the pre-school readiness of hearing-impaired, mentally challenged and visually impaired children aged three to seven years.

Rakesh Kumar Yadav, joint secretary, UP govt, has issued the approval letter to the director, department of empowerment of persons with disabilities. The Bachpan Day Care Centre will provide welfare and rehabilitation to children with disabilities. The department of empowerment of persons with disabilities and the executing agency will be responsible for ensuring construction of the centres in accordance with the prescribed standards and specifications.
