Memories of that famous *Sholay* moment resurfaced—the scene
The man, speaking loudly on his mobile phone, said that he had been in a relationship for two years and now wanted to marry his girlfriend. He said that to stop his girlfriend from meeting him, her father had taken away her phone. He threatened to jump from the tower if he was not allowed to marry his lover. Police brought his girlfriend to the scene and eventually convinced him to come down safely. A resident of Awazpur, he arrived in Shamsabad area during the afternoon, left his e-rickshaw outside, and climbed up the tower around 1pm. The drama continued for around four hours. A large crowd gathered on spotting the man on top of the tower. Some villagers informed the police. The police arrived at the site and persuaded him to climb down. He finally descended only after his girlfriend arrived there. The police took the man to the station. He claimed that his girlfriend’s father had threatened to assault him.
The incident occurred on Monday in Amalaiya Ashanand village of Farrukhabad.
