Agra : A 35-year-old man allegedly opened fire on his wife and her male friend at a busy market in Firozabad on Tuesday night, leaving both seriously injured, police said. The incident took place around 8.30pm at an office in DAV Market under Uttar police station limits in the Kotla Chungi area. Police said Rishabh Tailang allegedly arrived at a local shop where his wife, Shipra (32), was with Jitendra Thakur alias Sunny, and fired four to five rounds from his licensed revolver. SP Aditya Langeh said police received information about the shooting around 8.45-9pm and immediately reached the spot.

Police said Shipra, after being shot, reached a nearby shop and asked the shopkeeper to inform her family. His licensed revolver and empty cartridges were recovered, police said. Police said Rishabh and Shipra had been living separately and had reportedly had disputes in the past. “The injured were taken to hospital, while Rishabh was detained with the help of the public,” he said. Langeh said police would obtain a written complaint and register an FIR accordingly. Further details will be shared after the investigation,” he said.

Rishabh was detained at the spot with the help of local residents. Preliminary investigation suggested that Rishabh suspected his wife of having a relationship with Jitendra. “The investigation is underway.
