Agra: A 25-year-old man allegedly shot his female friend following a dispute in Rohta area of Agra’s Sadar on Wednesday afternoon and then shot himself in the head, dying on the spot. The woman sustained serious bullet injuries and was admitted to the military hospital.
However, in 2025, she recorded a statement before a magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC, saying the allegations were false, following which the case was closed.
The woman had reached the colony with a female friend when Arun also arrived there, according to police. Police said the woman had earlier lodged a case against Arun. The woman’s statement will be important in establishing the sequence of events once she is in a condition to speak, officials said.
The two had a dispute over some issue. During the argument, Arun allegedly shot the woman and then killed himself. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area.
ACP Sadar Ameesha said preliminary investigation indicated that Arun and the woman had a close relationship. “The reason behind the dispute and why Arun took such an extreme step is being investigated,” she said.
