Man poisons GF under ‘suicide pact’ after marriage fixed elsewhere; held
Pilibhit : A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly making his 18-year-old girlfriend drink toilet-cleaning acid under the pretext of a suicide pact after his marriage was arranged with another woman. The incident took place around 5 pm on Monday in Bhaugapur village under Bisalpur Kotwali police station limits. SHO Sanjeev Kumar Shukla said, “An FIR has been registered against Kumar under section 124(1) of the BNS, relating to causing grievous hurt through acid, and he has been arrested.

Pinki Devi’s father, Ram Dayal, said the accused, Banti Kumar, a farmer, called her to the outskirts of the village and made her consume the corrosive substance. Doctors said she was now out of danger. He allegedly fled when she asked him to drink it as well. Devi was found writhing in pain by a passerby, who informed her family. She was taken to the Bisalpur community health centre and later referred to the state medical college hospital in Pilibhit as her condition deteriorated. In his police complaint, Devi’s father alleged that Kumar had been in a relationship with his daughter but wanted to get rid of her after his marriage was fixed with another woman.
