Meerut: A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his 17-year-old niece. The police discovered her body in an agricultural field located in the Aliganj area of Bareilly on Wednesday. Authorities confirmed the arrest on Friday as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police then launched a search operation and recovered her body nearly 18 days after she went missing. Because he had not heard from her for several days and did not know where she was, the case came to light after the girl’s boyfriend contacted the SSP, saying he suspected that she had been murdered. SSP Anurag Arya said the accused, Jai Prakash , strangled the girl after learning that she was in a relationship. “He then buried her body eight feet underground and poured salt over it to accelerate decomposition,” Arya said.
