Teams have been formed to trace her alleged accomplice and lover. Meerut : Three days after a man’s body was exhumed in Muzzafarnagar, police on Friday arrested his wife for allegedly murdering him following a postmortem report confirming death by strangulation.
Police said Mohd Talib, 30, a mason, was allegedly declared dead of a heart attack and buried on Sept 29. A case has been registered against Ilma under BNS section 103 (murder). “The postmortem report revealed that Talib died of strangulation and not a heart attack, as stated earlier. She further claimed that Aman had threatened to kill her daughter if she revealed the identity of the killer.
We have arrested his wife and teams have been formed to arrest her associate, Aman ,” Meerut SP (City) Vinayak Bhonsle said. Police said that during questioning, Ilma admitted Talib had been killed but denied involvement. She allegedly told family members that she was away when the incident occurred and later learned from her daughter that Talib had been choked using her stole. Police said the role of Aman and the sequence of events leading to Talib’s death were being investigated.
His body was exhumed on Tuesday after family members raised suspicions and sought an investigation.
His cousin, Mohd Akram, said Ilma’s family informed them about Talib’s death. Talib was buried in Muzaffarnagar the next day,” he said. The phone was later found hidden among clothes, Akram said.
“When we reached the house, Ilma described his death as natural. Neighbours also informed them that she was allegedly close to Aman, a local meat trader, and that the two were frequently seen together. When relatives asked for Talib’s mobile phone, Ilma allegedly claimed it had gone missing. The family allegedly found chats, call records and voice recordings on it that raised suspicion about the circumstances of Talib’s death.
Family members became suspicious after Ilma allegedly began packing valuables from the house before the burial.
