Kanpur: A named FIR has been registered at Chakeri police station against six people after a Chakeri resident alleged that investors were defrauded of about Rs 300 crore through a scheme promising 10% monthly returns and guaranteed investments.

Complainant Rajkumar Singh, a resident of Shivkatra in Chakeri, said he worked as an area manager at a Jana Small Finance Bank branch and had known accused Ravi Mishra, a resident of Vijay Nagar, for about 10 years. He alleged that he was persuaded to invest in Kraipik Private Limited, which was claimed to trade in dollars and offer a 10% monthly profit.

Singh alleged that Mishra, along with Divyanshu Maurya and three others, took over Rs 17 lakh from him. The complaint alleged that money was also collected from many others as investments and that a fraud totalling about Rs 300 crore had emerged, leaving many people on the brink of financial ruin. Mishra and his senior Rahul Pal allegedly held meetings with investors at a Kanpur hotel and said their money was fully guaranteed, according to the FIR. He said he had taken a loan and transferred the money from his account. Station in charge Ajay Prakash Mishra said the FIR has been registered and action would be based on the facts.
