Moradabad man lured via dating app, assaulted and extorted ₹10,000 in Lucknow

Lucknow: A 23-year-old man from Moradabad was allegedly lured through a dating app, taken to an isolated location in Lucknow, assaulted, robbed and held captive by four men who forced him to transfer ₹10,000 online, police said on Monday.

The victim, identified as Satyam Singh, a resident of Kashiram Nagar under Majhola police station in Moradabad, stated in his complaint that he was contacted on the app and asked to meet near Kamta crossing around 1 am on Oct 6. The men demanded money and, under pressure, he called his PG owner, Ankur Singh, requesting ₹10,000. After he reached the meeting point, one of the accused took him on a motorcycle towards the Tera Khas area, according to the complaint. The rider allegedly stopped in an open field and began smoking, and within minutes three other men arrived. Singh alleged the group then took him to a secluded spot where one of them grabbed him by the throat while another punched him in the abdomen. The accused allegedly took control of his Paytm account and transferred the money to an account linked to them. The complaint further alleges they attempted to use PAN card details stored on his phone to apply for a loan. Singh also alleged he was forced to strip, after which the accused recorded a nude video and threatened him with serious consequences if he informed anyone.
