As part of the project, 720 RFID tags have been installed along the route to provide precise train-location and operational data, enabling the Kavach system to function effectively.
Railway officials said Standard Kavach is an indigenous safety system designed to minimise the risk of accidents caused by human error. Officials said the system also provides protection against head-on collisions, rear-end collisions, rollaway incidents and standstill violations. The technology assists locomotive pilots by automatically controlling train speed under specified operational condition.
