North Central Railway (NCR) is ramping up efforts to provide safe and clean drinking water to both passengers and railway staff at stations within its three divisions: Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra. This initiative aims to ensure the availability of potable water across all facilities, addressing health and hygiene concerns for travelers and employees alike.
During the last week, 2,036 tests have been conducted over NCR. Under a special drive initiated on Aug 20, NCR targeted the cleaning and disinfection of 8,766 overhead, underground, and PVC water tanks across its divisions. As of Sept 18, a total of 7,959 water tanks have been cleaned, achieving 90.79% progress.

Through continuous water quality monitoring, residual chlorine checks, and routine bacteriological/chemical testing, health inspectors are conducting regular inspections of drinking-water points, platforms, water coolers, and RO systems. Any operational or cleanliness deficiencies identified are immediately referred to the Engineering and Electrical departments for swift rectification. Bacteriological testing of water samples has also been conducted, while a total of three chemical tests were conducted in Agra division during this period. Download the TOI App.
