A 30×20-ft national flag has been permanently installed atop a 100-ft pole at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow. The ceremony took place on Wednesday and was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Vice-Chancellor Prof Soniya Nityananda.
KGMU on Wednesday adopted 519 TB patients and distributed nutritional kits to them to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
Pathak said the tricolour was a symbol of the nation’s honour and pride and that its presence on the KGMU campus would inspire patriotism among students and staff. Prof Nityananda said the flag also symbolised unity and responsibility. She said every doctor, nurse and employee of KGMU contributed to national service through their work and that patient care should always remain the institution’s top priority. Pathak said the fight against TB required sustained efforts and participation from all sections of society.
Deputy chief minister and medical education minister Brajesh Pathak attended the programme at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Convention Centre at KGMU.
