LUCKNOW: The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi has formally appreciated the Kushinagar Police for rescuing 453 Nepali citizens, including 115 women and 338 men, from an alleged fake networking syndicate operating in the district. In an official letter of appreciation, the Nepalese Embassy thanked Senior Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar and the Uttar Pradesh Police for the rescue operation, which resulted in all 453 citizens being safely sent back to Nepal. On May 31, 2026, a joint team comprising personnel from Kasya police station, the district surveillance cell, the SWAT team and the Gorakhpur unit of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) conducted raids at locations identified during the investigation. The operation led to the arrest of 10 accused, including eight men and two women. Police also rescued all 453 Nepali citizens and facilitated their safe return to Nepal. During the operation, police seized nine allegedly forged Aadhaar cards, 60 bond papers, jewellery, a laptop, Rs 60,320 in Indian currency, 14,290 Nepali rupees and other materials.
Information had emerged that certain Nepali nationals had rented houses at different locations in the Kasya police station area and were luring fellow citizens from Nepal with promises of employment and lucrative earnings through marketing-network schemes, according to the Kushinagar Police. Taking cognisance of the complaints, the district police registered a case at Kasya police station and constituted multiple teams to investigate the alleged racket.
