Police said the two were among four shooters involved in Baliyan’s murder. Shamli SP Narendra Pratap Singh said police had ordered night-time blockades and mandatory vehicle checks at intersections across the district following Baliyan’s murder outside a gym. When police tried to stop them, they opened fire instead of stopping, with a bullet hitting the police vehicle, the SP said. They were taken to CHC Shamli, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment, officials said.
SHAMLI: Two sharpshooters allegedly involved in the murder of popular Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan were killed in a police encounter in Shamli early Monday after they opened fire at police teams at multiple checkpoints while attempting to flee. Around 4am, the two accused allegedly passed a police checkpoint on a motorcycle. Both accused also sustained multiple bullet injuries in the retaliatory firing. Weapons and other incriminating material were also recovered from the spot.
