The UP T20 League match between Meerut Mavericks and Lucknow Falcons concluded without a result due to rain at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Saturday. As a result, both teams were awarded one point each.
On Friday, Kashi Rudras skipper Karan Sharma cracked a century to help his team beat Noida Kings by 67 runs. Karan hit 11 boundaries and a six in his 102-run knock before being dismissed by Kunal Tyagi. Shoaib contributed 25 runs, while Madhav kept the chase alive with a well-made 72. The remaining Noida batsmen failed to establish themselves at the crease, and the team was eventually bowled out for 150 in 18.4 overs.
The victory, after four successive defeats, lifted Kashi Rudras to eight points from nine matches and strengthened their chances of making the playoffs. They now have one more league match remaining. Karan continued his run-scoring spree and completed his century in style with a six. It was only the second century of the season, after Kanpur Superstars’ Adarsh Singh scored the first in Lucknow. For Noida Kings, Naman Tiwari and Bobby Yadav claimed two wickets apiece.
Meerut Mavericks, who remain unbeaten in the tournament, now have 15 points from eight matches and continue to top the points table, while Lucknow Falcons moved to nine points from eight outings and sit in second place. Invited to bat first, Meerut Mavericks scored 67 for two in 8.3 overs before rain brought the match to a halt. Opener Swastik Chikara was unbeaten on 39, while Rituraj was batting on two when play was stopped. Chikara faced 30 balls and struck four boundaries and two sixes during his stay at the crease. Divyanshu Joshi contributed a brisk 24 off 17 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes, before being dismissed by Krishna Kumar. Rain began around 3.45 pm and continued intermittently until 5.30 pm, making any further play impossible. With conditions showing no sign of improvement, the match referee officially called off the game at 5.30 pm.
