Gorakhpur : Relief and rescue operations have been intensified in 57 flood-affected villages of Gorakhpur as Rapti and Saryu rivers continue to flow above the danger mark, officials said on Friday.
42 villages in Gola tehsil, eight in Sadar and seven in Bansgaon remain affected by floods, according to district disaster expert Gautam Gupta. Officials said that 17,192 ration kits and 49,080 lunch packets have been distributed among flood victims so far. The administration has operationalised two relief shelters and 24 flood outposts. To maintain connectivity and facilitate rescue operations, 93 boats and 15 motorboats have been deployed in the affected villages.

District magistrate Deepak Meena said that no resident or livestock would be left without assistance. The district administration is carrying out large-scale relief measures in the flood-hit areas of Sadar, Gola and Bansgaon tehsils. Relief teams are distributing food kits and other essential supplies across the affected villages, while community kitchens in several locations are providing cooked meals to residents. Control rooms are functioning at the district and tehsil levels to coordinate relief efforts and respond to emergencies. The shelters have arrangements for accommodation, drinking water, sanitation, lighting and regular meals for displaced families. The boats are being used to transport residents, deliver essential supplies and provide emergency medical assistance. Health department teams are conducting medical check-ups and distributing medicines in flood-hit areas. The animal husbandry department is also supplying fodder and cattle feed, including five-kilogram feed packets for large animals and two-kilogram packets for smaller livestock.
