The NDRF team reached the affected areas and launched relief and rescue operation
Kanpur: The continuous rise in the water level of Pandu River flooded many low-lying areas of Gopalpuram and Jarauli Phase-2 on Thursday, prompting the administration to deploy NDRF teams after reports that around 25 families were stranded amid the floodwater. The NDRF team reached the affected areas and launched relief and rescue operations. Administrative teams were also deployed to monitor the situation and assist residents. Late Wednesday night, Joint Magistrate/SDM (Sadar) Anubhav Singh and Tehsildar (Sadar) Vinay Dwivedi inspected areas affected by waterlogging along the Pandu River. The officials interacted with affected families and local residents to assess the situation. Arrangements were also made to provide relief kits to affected families. As a precautionary measure, the administration installed barricades and completely stopped traffic on the bridge. Local police were directed to remain vigilant. Ramesh Chandra Kunde, a member of the UP Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission, also inspected the waterlogging-affected areas of Mayapuram and Ravidaspuram. Kunde also appealed to people living in waterlogged areas to shift to the nearby flood relief shelter at Shri Vishambhar Nath Thakur Inter College.
On Thursday, water from Pandu river began flowing over the bridge on the Bhauti-Panka connecting road in Panka Bahadur Nagar village.
Meals are being served to around 400 people every day, according to officials.
