Roadways contract driver killed after being hit by unidentified vehicle

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Lucknow: A 45-year-old driver employed on a contractual basis by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) lost his life on Wednesday morning after being struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road in the Sarojini Nagar area. The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation, and authorities are working to identify the vehicle involved.

Nadeem had been assigned night duties for the past few days, according to police. Police said Nadeem reached the Transport Nagar area after finishing his shift. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Nadeem , a native of Bojha village under Jaidpur police station in Barabanki. He was living with his wife Kaifi and their two sons in Aashiana. a speeding unidentified vehicle allegedly struck him While he was attempting to cross the road on foot and waiting for a suitable opportunity to proceed. The impact left him seriously injured. Passersby alerted the police, following which a police team reached the spot and rushed Nadeem to the Trauma Centre. Doctors, however, declared him dead on arrival. Police are examining the circumstances of the accident and scanning available information to identify the vehicle and its driver.

He had also worked the night shift on Tuesday and was returning home after completing his duty early Wednesday morning.

Identification of Victim and Family Notification

Authorities have identified the victim through a mobile phone and identification documents found at the scene. Following this identification, police promptly notified the victim’s family about the incident.
