Lucknow/Gautam Budh Nagar : School students took centre stage at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) 2026 on Saturday, stepping into the shoes of international diplomats to debate global trade, artificial intelligence and economic diplomacy during the ‘Viksit Bharat Model United Nations (MUN)’.
Held at the India Expo Centre and Mart, the event drew over 100 students from classes 9 to 12 across 14 schools. Serving as delegates of World Trade Organisation (WTO) member nations, the young participants tackled complex policy challenges framed around the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision. Discussions spanned global supply chain dynamics, trade facilitation agreement, e-commerce, moratoria on digital trade and the rising role of AI and automation in commercial ecosystems. Organisers noted that hosting the MUN alongside an industrial trade show bridged academic theory with market realities. Beyond the MUN, students toured UP govt pavilions to examine state-level industrial growth, export potential, handicrafts and investment initiatives first-hand. Inaugurated with an address by Gautam Budh Nagar District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Chandrashekhar, the session concluded with accolades — including best delegate, high commendation and special mention awards — presented to top-performing participants.
