donePrayagraj: Scores of Samajwadi Party workers from all 12 assembly constituencies of the city on Thursday took out a “Save Vote, Save Country” march and staged a protest, alleging attempts to undermine the autonomy of Election Commission of India (ECI).
Party spokesperson Daan Bahadur Madhur said a large number of party leaders, office-bearers and workers from various frontal organisations, including the Mahila Sabha, participated in the march. The protesters demanded an end to the alleged institutional capture of ECI and sought the removal and prosecution of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Carrying banners, placards and party flags, they set out from the party office and marched to the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Balsan Crossing, where they paid floral tributes.
Madhur said Article 326 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to vote, was read aloud near the statue. Stay updated with the latest Prayagraj news.
