Prayagraj : As a part of the state govt’s efforts to make farmers familiar with the latest agricultural technologies, improved seeds, and fertiliser management, they are being connected with agricultural technical assistants (ATA).
Given the rising costs of farming and unpredictable weather patterns, farmers’ incomes can only be increased by simultaneously reducing cultivation costs and ensuring they have access to information on new technologies, improved seeds, and fertiliser management. To achieve this, govt has appointed these ‘technical guides’ (Sarathis) for the farmers.
Role of Agricultural Technical Advisors in Digital Farming
Agricultural Technical Advisors (ATAs) have been given substantial responsibilities in digital agriculture, focusing on the collection of ground-level data from farmers’ fields. Their primary task will be to conduct digital crop surveys, ensuring that accurate crop details are gathered and updated on digital platforms.
ATAs will facilitate soil testing and provide farmers with tailored advice on nutrient and fertilizer usage specific to their land conditions. Additionally, they are responsible for collecting real-time data on crop production, sown areas, and anticipated yields, which are essential for informed decision-making in agricultural practices.
