Lucknow: Private firms linked to businessman Jigar Desai allegedly spent more than ₹8.31 lakh on hotel accommodation for former WAPCOS deputy chief engineer/project manager Pankaj Dubey, according to a CBI FIR registered in Lucknow. The CBI said the total hotel bill of ₹8,31,332 was paid by Rydot Infotech Pvt. Ltd. and Utkarsh Software Services, both described in the FIR as entities linked to Jigar Desai. The agency is examining these payments as possible undue benefits given to a public servant.
The FIR came to light on Monday.
The CBI suspects that the hotel expenses were not ordinary business payments but were intended to influence Dubey in the performance of his official duties. The case has been registered under provisions of the BNS and Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is underway.
