To streamline documentation and verification of doctoral work: The wider industry impact

Lucknow: Lucknow University ’s executive council on Thursday cleared a set of student-focused measures spanning PhD reforms, supervision rules, admissions benefits and upgrades to academic and residential support systems.

The council also approved a 5% reservation in PhD admissions for wards of affiliated college teachers, following a demand raised by LUCTA. The executive council sanctioned 17 new self-financed teaching posts for the five-year LLB programme under the Faculty of Law. He added that remuneration for contractual staff in self-financed courses was revised, raising third-category pay from Rs 14,000 to Rs 21,700 and fourth-category pay from Rs 11,650 to Rs 18,000, benefiting about 94 employees.

University spokesperson Mukul Srivastava said the newly constructed sports complex will be named Prof DP Singh Krida Bhawan after former vice-chancellor Prof DP Singh. To streamline documentation and verification of doctoral work in line with a University Grants Commission order, the council approved faculty-wise colour coding for PhD thesis bindings. In another decision, teachers from govt and aided affiliated degree colleges were permitted to supervise part-time PhD scholars.
