Lucknow: Two videos, each over two minutes long, surfaced on social media on Thursday showing the Oct 24 daylight killing of three men from the same family in Brahman Tola of Saadatganj and capturing the accused’s repeated claim that he acted in self-defence.
The footage, now widely shared online, shows 29-year-old Rishabh Shukla allegedly opening fire on the victims one after another as family members scream and people on the street panic.
Police said Shukla was arrested at the spot. In a second clip, Shukla is seen walking around with a pistol in his hand, shouting angrily and repeatedly insisting he had been attacked and fired to defend himself. Police had allegedly advised the Tiwari family to record video if they felt threatened, and clips shot by people at the scene have now surfaced online. Another circulating video shows him being apprehended following the incident. Investigators are examining the sequence of events and the self-defence claim in light of video evidence and other material.
In one video, Shukla is purportedly seen shooting Shambhu first, followed by Shiva Tiwari and Tiwari’s son Suyash. After the firing, one victim is seen lying injured near a black car, pleading for help and saying he has been shot. Voices in the background allege that the men were being beaten with sticks during the confrontation.
