Two unidentified bodies recovered from canal near Kanausi Bridge

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Authorities in Lucknow reported the discovery of two unidentified male bodies in a canal near Kanausi Bridge on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Manak Nagar police station. Local police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Police received information around 7.30 am on Wednesday after a caller reported that two bodies appeared to be trapped in the regulator of a canal near Kanausi Bridge.

Police said an identifying mark was found on the younger man: a tattoo of the word “Mahakal” on his right hand. Authorities said teams are checking missing-person records and trying to trace relatives as part of the ongoing inquiry. A team from Manak Nagar police station reached the spot and, with assistance from personnel present at the site, pulled both bodies out of the canal. Investigators are using the tattoo and other physical features to help establish his identity. After completing legal formalities at the site, police sent the bodies to the mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

Based on physical appearance, one victim is estimated to be around 40 years old, while the other is believed to be about 20. Officials said the deceased were male and their identities could not be confirmed immediately.
