Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress president Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ on Wednesday questioned discrepancies in voter data following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and demanded that Election Commission make public district-wise and booth-wise details of names removed from the electoral rolls.
In a statement, Mona alleged that around 2.04 crore names had been removed from the UP assembly electoral roll during the SIR process. Around 71.38 lakh Form 6 applications were available, while 84.28 lakh names were added, leaving a difference of nearly 16.18 lakh, according to the figures cited by her.
The Congress president said Election Commission should publish the details of every deleted voter along with the reason for deletion, calling for greater transparency in the revision process. She also accused the BJP and Election Commission of undermining voting rights and said Congress would oppose any move that affected citizens’ constitutional right to vote.
