Party leaders said the venue has been readied for a statewide gathering, with posters and banners already being put up at the site. BSP state president Vishwanath Pal said the gathering is expected to be large, though exact numbers are hard to predict. Our people come on their own,” he said.
BSP national president Mayawati has directed party leaders to mobilise cadre and supporters to gather in large numbers in Lucknow to pay tribute to the late leader. The commemorative programme will be held at Lucknow’s Eco Garden, also known as Manyawar Shri Kanshi Ram Ji Smarak Sthal, a memorial built during a BSP govt to honour Kanshi Ram’s legacy. In previous years, BSP workers from eight western Uttar Pradesh districts held memorial events at Noida’s Dalit Prerna Sthal. However, the Noida memorial is currently under renovation, prompting the party to consolidate the anniversary observance at Eco Garden this year. “That would have been possible if the party had made arrangements to bring people to the venue.
