The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Lucknow: Electricity consumers across Uttar Pradesh will get the highest-ever relief of 9.17% in applicable electricity charges in their Nov 2026 bills under the Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPAAS) mechanism, translating into estimated savings of Rs 645 crore for consumers across the state.

Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad president and State Advisory Committee member Avadhesh Kumar Verma said the latest adjustment would provide financial relief of approximately Rs 645 crore to electricity consumers.

UPPCL managing director Nitish Kumar said, “This would be the fifth consecutive month of relief through negative FPAAS adjustments, reflecting lower actual power procurement and fuel costs compared to those factored into electricity tariffs. He said UPPCL was also working to improve consumer services while ensuring reliable and quality electricity supply across Uttar Pradesh. Verma said the relief was the outcome of an order issued by the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission following demands raised by the consumer council.

Kumar attributed the continued relief to effective management of electricity procurement costs. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd ( UPPCL ) announced the relief on Wednesday, saying it would benefit domestic, commercial and other categories of electricity consumers.
