This will be the first visit by a chief of the armed forces to a village in Gorakhpur, according to an official statement. Officials said the visit is aimed at strengthening interaction between the armed forces and people in rural areas. They said the engagement could also provide students an opportunity to learn about the armed forces.
During the visit, Singh will go to the Ramashray Gram Vikas Sansthan at Sakhi in Mathabari. He will interact with people associated with the organisation and learn about its work in social development, public welfare and efforts to make local communities self-reliant. The Air Chief will also visit Saraswati Gurukul, where he is scheduled to meet students and teachers and speak about the importance of education, discipline, hard work and self-confidence.
