Wife plots husband’s murder with lover for Rs 10 lakh; 4 held

Muzaffarnagar : A 35-year-old woman allegedly conspired with her lover to have her husband killed for Rs 10 lakh, which she planned to arrange by selling land, police said on Wednesday. The woman, her lover and two alleged shooters have been arrested in connection with the murder of 42-year-old farmer Praveen alias Parvinder. Praveen was shot dead in a farming field in Ambapur village under Ratanpuri police station on Sept 27. The arrested accused were identified as Praveen’s wife Rekha , her alleged lover Vikas (33) and his associates Raja alias Kala and Kalyan Singh. Police said Rekha subsequently told Vikas that her husband had to be removed from their way and promised to arrange Rs 10 lakh from the sale of land. Raja, who allegedly had around Rs 1.5 lakh outstanding against Praveen, agreed to join the conspiracy, police said.

Rekha and Vikas developed a relationship after Vikas, who was known to the family, came into contact with her, according to police. Police said the accused admitted their involvement during questioning. The two allegedly wanted to marry, but Praveen opposed their relationship after learning about it. Vikas works as a contractor involved in soil-filling work and was known to Praveen’s family, they added.

SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma said, “Police cracked the case within 60 hours following an investigation by teams from SP (Rural), CO Budhana, Ratanpuri police and SOG-Surveillance.”
