Yogi: Speed, scale, connectivity mantra transformed UP since 2017

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has witnessed major improvements in connectivity since 2017, attributing the shift to a “mantra of speed, scale and connectivity” that he said has “changed the face of UP”.

In a post on social media platform X, Yogi said there has been an unprecedented expansion of road, rail, metro and air links since the BJP formed govt in the state in 2017. He also claimed that air connectivity has expanded from being limited to a few cities to a network of 12 domestic and five international airports, which he said is connecting every part of the state. On urban transit, he said metro services, earlier absent in Uttar Pradesh, have extended to seven cities over the past 9.5 years.

“Road, rail and air connectivity do not merely reduce distances but they also bring convenience, save time and open up new possibilities for prosperity,” he wrote, adding that before 2017 the condition of these “lifelines of development” was “extremely deplorable”. The chief minister said that prior to 2017, Uttar Pradesh, the country’s most populous state, had “only one and a half expressways”, while at present 10 expressways are operational. Yogi said the infrastructure expansion is improving market access for farmers, creating scope for entrepreneurship and making education and employment more accessible for youth. “Opportunities for every sector, capacity for every enterprise and growing prosperity in the life of every family are the new identity of ‘New UP’ in ‘New India’,” he said.

He added that the developments are saving time for working people and supporting tourism growth, leading to more local jobs.
