Stories, music and imagination came together at LittleBigHelp India Trust on October 1, as Rishi Dasgupta, author and musical storyteller, spent an interactive afternoon with children from the Trust’s hostels.
Through stories and music, we can help children discover those powers within themselves, ” said Rishi Dasgupta For Rishi, musical storytelling is a way of building connections — with stories opening up the imagination, music bringing people together and empathy encouraging children to see the world from another person’s perspective. Bringing his stories to life through words, voice and music, Rishi encouraged the children to be active participants rather than just listeners. He played two pieces on the acoustic guitar and got the children to clap along to the rhythm, turning the session into an afternoon of music, laughter and shared discovery. At the heart of the session was a message about empathy and courage. Drawing on familiar superheroes such as Superman and Batman, Rishi spoke to the children about how having extraordinary powers is not what makes someone a superhero. Instead, courage and kindness can be superpowers in their own right. “I believe every child carries a superpower within them. It may not be the ability to fly or become invisible, but the courage to stand up and the kindness to care for another. The afternoon at LittleBigHelp went beyond storytelling, with the children finding their rhythm, joining in the music and exploring new worlds through imagination — while taking away a simple message: some of the most powerful superpowers may already be within them.
