This massive Unreal Engine 5 showcase introduces players to the legendary Demon Queller of Chinese mythology. Nevertheless, the game is currently expected to release globally in late 2027, and it is likely going to be available on PC and current-generation consoles. Game Science has officially released the first gameplay trailer for Black Myth: Zhong Kui. At the time of writing, the developers at Game Science have not announced an official release date for Black Myth: Zhong Kui.

It is essentially the highly anticipated standalone follow-up to their critically acclaimed action-RPG, Black Myth: Wukong.

Industry insiders project a Holiday 2027 window for Black Myth: Zhong Kui, with the development team reportedly using Unreal Engine 5.4. This will result in the title maximizing the hardware capabilities of the PlayStation 5 and high-end gaming PCs before it officially launches. Game Science chose Zhong Kui to explicitly explore the darker, more gothic elements of traditional Chinese folklore and underworld mythology. After the overwhelming global success of Wukong’s story, the developers wanted a protagonist whose lore naturally supports a darker tone, with Zhong Kui perfectly fitting that mold. His established mythological role as the King of Ghosts will justify the game’s brutal difficulty and add a supernatural aesthetic to the Black Myth franchise.
