At the time, I believe 1 in 5 children were going to school hungry.

The high profile couple have continued to donate a significant portion of their wealth and through their foundation, the Eat, Learn & Play, they have changed countless lives in Oakland. In an interview with NPR, Stephen Curry’s wife Ayesha Curry opened up about how many children coming from unprivileged backgrounds, don’t get access to food in Oakland. If you’re not nourished, you don’t – your brain function is just depleted, and the rest kind of falls out of line. And at the time, I was a new mom, first-time mom, and I quickly heard the statistics. The popular chef and actress added, “Sometimes, the meal within the school system that they were getting was the only meal that they were getting for the entire day. And so for me, my, like, personal love comes from the form of the eat pillar of Eat. Learn. Play. But then, when it comes to the literacy, we’re parents. Stephen Curry’s wife Ayesha Curry continued, “We’re in the thick of it. And as a parent, like, the thought of not being able to provide something so simple as, like, the ability to read to my child is so upsetting. And so for me, I just would love to eradicate that.
The foundation, Eat, Learn & Play, was set up in 2019 with Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry using their own funds and it has been highly successful. Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, have been able to raise investments over a whopping $100 million while ensuring more and more children get to live better lives in Oakland. Both Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, set up their foundation keeping in mind that they have to provide nutritious meals to underprivileged children while providing quality education.
