Bronny James gets Lakers future warning
Jacob Rude of Silver Screen and Roll captured the mood surrounding Bronny’s situation, writing that the Lakers have shown patience with his growth but are starting to expect more from him. In Rude’s words, “As much as he has shown signs of progress, though, the time has come for him to be more than a project and to make good on the team’s investment in him. He also made it through the roster shakeup that claimed several other spots. For now, he’s expected to report to training camp with the team. Bronny isn’t pretending the picture is simple. Asked what part of his game needed the most work, he laid out a wide list of goals rather than picking one lane. He needs to be a threat off the ball playing alongside Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, and he knows scoring is part of that. The Lakers hold a team option on the final year of his deal, meaning they could move on next summer without any cap consequences. Whatever role he claims over the next several months will likely decide whether Los Angeles keeps betting on him or lets him go.
