Savannah James, 39, shared the personal advice during an appearance on the Question Everything podcast. The couple married in September 2013 and have three children, Bronny, Bryce and Zhuri. During an October 2025 appearance on Savannah’s Everybody’s Crazy podcast, the NBA star was asked about how far he would go to keep his marriage together. During an episode of the 360 with Speedy podcast, he admitted that even a long-term relationship has difficult moments. 14.

“I’ve known him more than I’ve been alive, if that makes sense,” she said, noting she crossed paths with LeBron when she was 16. “My advice would be something that I didn’t do earlier that I wish I would have done — to pay attention to yourself as much as you’re paying attention to your partner,” Savannah explained. “I know I don’t want to be alone, that’s for damn sure,” LeBron said. Savannah and LeBron James have been together since their high school days, long before championships, fame, and the constant attention that comes with being an NBA superstar. More than two decades later, she has learned how important it is to protect her own identity while supporting her husband, raising their three children, and handling life in the public eye. For Savannah, however, being married to a global sports icon has also meant learning how to balance her role as a wife and mother without losing sight of herself. “Don’t lose yourself in all the things. Don’t lose yourself in the babies, if they come. Don’t lose yourself in the facade of what all of this looks like. Try to stay grounded. She also stressed the importance of being genuine throughout the different stages of a long relationship. “If I could give any advice, I would just say to stay grounded and stay intentional with who you are, who your partner is, and how you guys got to be — to get to this point and just support each other through the evolution of it. Savannah believes trust in the relationship has been another key part of making their marriage work. She suggested having confidence in a partner and continuing to support each other can make a major difference. LeBron has also spoken openly about the work involved in protecting their relationship. “If I got to fight, crawl, scratch, bite, whatever to keep mine, I got to keep it. I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do. LeBron explained how growing up as an only child in a single-parent household shaped his feelings about family. He met Savannah at their Akron, Ohio, high school, and their relationship has since grown into a marriage spanning more than two decades. He also had a blunt assessment of marriage when another guest discussed people who fail to value their relationships. LeBron chimed in, saying marriage is “hard as f***, man. LeBron has never suggested his relationship with Savannah has been effortless. “I’m gonna be honest, a relationship is never picture perfect. LeBron identified communication and honesty as two of the biggest factors in their marriage, while also accepting that compromise is unavoidable. “Communication is number one…being honest is number two…and number three is, like, you have to be okay with being uncomfortable in relationships sometimes and you can’t always have it your way, it’s not gonna work that way.
