The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback has confirmed that the 2026 season will be his last, but retirement will not simply mean walking away from football. Rodgers made his plans clear during his conversation with Zito, which The Washington Post published on September 2, 2026. On May 20, 2026, he confirmed that the upcoming campaign would be his final NFL season, ending a career that began with the Green Bay Packers in 2005. Rodgers later joined the Steelers for the 2025 season and returned to Pittsburgh for one final run in 2026. During an interview with NFL Network in August 2026, Rodgers explained that getting married and having conversations with his wife helped him become open to rebuilding those family relationships.
Discussing what he wants from life after football, the Steelers quarterback said, “My next chapter in my life is fatherhood. He said, “A big part of it was getting married and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up of the possibility of coming together. He also added, “Having her by my side during this process has been really special.”
Aaron Rodgers already knows what he wants once his NFL career comes to an end. Rodgers now has a much more personal goal in mind, one that involves his wife Brittani and the family life he hopes to build after spending more than two decades in the league. He then made one point clear: “We are not expecting yet, but I cannot wait to be a father. Now, his attention has started to move beyond the game. Fatherhood gives Rodgers a goal that has nothing to do with statistics, playoff runs or another contract. More importantly, he has made it clear that he wants that future with Brittani. Rodgers has kept his marriage extremely private, and Brittani has largely stayed away from the spotlight. That has made every comment he shares about their relationship stand out.
He has previously explained that his wife does not want the public attention that often follows NFL players and their partners, preferring to keep their personal life away from social media and cameras.
