With the November 10 NFL trade deadline approaching, questions about his future have started gaining attention. Their public support comes at a difficult time for the Cowboys, who have lost consecutive games after an encouraging 5-0 start to the 2026 season. George Pickens has found himself at the centre of growing trade speculation, but two of the Dallas Cowboys’ biggest stars are not ready to see him leave. However, quarterback Dak Prescott and fellow wide receiver CeeDee Lamb have made their positions clear. Both believe Pickens deserves a long-term future in Dallas rather than an unexpected exit.
“People say a lot of things I don’t believe, so I’m not listening to that one, either,” Prescott said Thursday.
” The Cowboys managed only 48 rushing yards in that game, their lowest total of the season. Pickens’ reduced involvement since Week 7 has added to the questions. Because of him and what he’s done the year before, everything that I have been able to accomplish has been. Because if that’s the case, you’re going to drive yourself into a ditch to be honest, when that moment comes, you can’t really go off of what just happened.
“I don’t know why that’s a thing,” Lamb said Thursday of Pickens’ trade talks. “George is a great teammate,” Prescott said. “Just when his time comes, I know that he is going to be ready,” Lamb said.
Lamb also questioned why the Cowboys would consider moving on from a player who has helped improve the team’s passing attack. “C’mon man. Vice versa with everything that I’ve accomplished the year prior to that. He exposed them [opposing defenses]. Just kind of taking what the defense is giving us, and I feel like that goes hand in hand with why I’m able to do what I’m doing at a great pace. “And I say that in the sense of, he’s gonna do whatever is asked, he’s going to do whatever is called. If it’s to go block, if it’s to just go run a guy off, he’s going to do that. He believes in just doing the right thing, and the ball will come his way at times. And so, that’s not on George. “That’s the only conversation that we have. Remember how you felt. Use that as fuel.”
You have to move on, be grown about the situation, come to practice ready to work again and have that same mentality that you had before the game.
