Maye enjoyed a remarkable campaign last season, completing 72 percent of his passes for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns . He threw only eight interceptions and posted a 77.1 QBR , the best mark among qualified quarterbacks. Seattle finished last season with the NFL’s top-ranked scoring defense, allowing just 17.2 points per game . The Patriots and Seahawks are scheduled to meet Wednesday night, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m.
“They won the big one,” Maye said Saturday, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. There is currently no indication that the Patriots quarterback is dealing with an injury that would prevent him from taking the field. Maye is not listed with an injury designation in the latest information available ahead of the matchup, putting him in line to start New England’s season opener. That is welcome news for a Patriots team counting heavily on its young quarterback. His performance also earned him a second-place finish in MVP voting and a Second Team All-Pro selection. The challenge waiting for Maye is significant. The Seahawks also return an offense led by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year. ET at Lumen Field in Seattle.
