The 32-year-old wide receiver is still waiting for his next opportunity after leaving the Miami Dolphins, but his recovery has not gone as smoothly as hoped. The franchise selected him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and he quickly became one of Patrick Mahomes ‘ most dangerous offensive weapons. Tyreek Hill once made the Kansas City Chiefs’ offence one of the most feared units in the NFL . Now, the possibility of seeing him back in a Chiefs uniform is becoming harder to imagine. With Kansas City exploring other ways to strengthen its receiving corps, Hill faces a race against time to prove he can still compete at the highest level. His agent’s cautious approach now looks increasingly justified. NFL reporter Pete Sweeney recently discussed Kansas City’s interest during an appearance with Trey Wingo. He suggested the Chiefs could explore several options before making a decision. Kansas City has a familiar connection with Hill. Their partnership produced several memorable seasons before Miami acquired him.

Hill finished his injury-shortened 2025 campaign with 21 catches, 265 receiving yards and one touchdown in four games.

Just considering some of the off-the-field stuff, but at a certain point, the Chiefs showed us two weeks ago the off-the-field to them maybe doesn’t matter,” Sweeney said. “It’s the type of player as well that it’s ‘do we want to bring this player into the locker room? Until he proves his knee can withstand NFL demands, his comeback remains uncertain. A reunion with Mahomes and the Chiefs is still possible, but Kansas City has little reason to rush its decision.
