WWE SmackDown broadcast its September 4 episode of the show tonight, although it was taped last week. Gunther then came out and called out Sami Zayn for interfering in the No.1 contender’s match last week on SmackDown. This was the go-home edition of WWE ’s special show coming up this weekend, Sunday Night’s Main Event, building up to the storylines for the event. The show featured a captivating Undisputed WWE title match in the main event. Apart from that, Chelsea Green’s medical status was unveiled; Giulia got her revenge on Blake Monroe by attacking her backstage, and other matches set the tone for SmackDown tonight. Danhausen opened the show and cut a promo about uncursing Cleveland’s local sports teams, the Browns and Cavaliers. Sami Zayn came out from the audience to defend himself while berating CM Punk. Kevin Owens and Finn Balor also got involved in the segment, forcing Zayn to retreat.
The doctor said that Green was cleared to compete until she wore her protective mask in her matches. This was a tag team match on SmackDown. Charlotte Flair & Tatum Paxley had Alexa Bliss in their corner, while Jacy Jayne was in Lainey Reed and Fallon Henley’s corner. The bout saw Flair and Paxley win the match, only for Jade Cargill and the Baddies to take out both teams. Nick Aldis brought out Chelsea Green and a doctor to evaluate her medical status. Nia Jax and Lash Legend came out, and Jax wanted a Women’s title match against Green, which was made official for SmackDown next week. This was an impromptu match made after the aforementioned segment. It was an exciting bout that concluded with Jax hitting a major Annihilator and pinning Stratton to pick up the win. The enthralling tag team bout concluded with Bakusai (Shinsuke Nakamura & Kyoki) defeating the team of Kit Wilson and The Miz. Following the match, Nakamura and Kyoki were confronted by the MFTs.
