Grammarly's AI agents are designed to assist professionals: The wider industry impact

Grammarly has unveiled eight new AI agents aimed at addressing specific writing challenges. These agents assist users in tasks such as sourcing information, checking originality, predicting reader responses, and evaluating work against established rubrics.

The new tools will be integrated into Grammarly’s latest AI writing platform, designed to cater to both students and professionals engaged in research, editing, and communication. This launch represents the initial phase of Grammarly’s transition towards an agent-based AI model, with intentions to further develop and deploy these capabilities across various platforms where users create and collaborate on written content.

A study found that while two-thirds of employers plan to hire candidates with AI skills in 2025, only 18% of students feel very prepared to use AI in their careers, according to the company.

Grammarly said the agents will help students use AI responsibly while maintaining academic integrity. The eight agents include: Reader Reactions: predicts likely takeaways, questions, and points of confusion for a target audience such as professors, managers, or clients. AI Grader: provides feedback aligned with uploaded rubrics and estimates grades before submission. Citation Finder: locates evidence for or against claims and generates formatted citations. Expert Review: offers subject-specific feedback based on academic or professional standards. Proofreader: gives in-line suggestions for clarity and confidence while adapting to user style. AI Detector : scores whether text was likely AI- or human-generated. Plagiarism Checker: compares text against databases and published material to highlight overlaps and ensure citations. Paraphraser: adjusts tone, audience, and style, and allows users to create a custom voice. In addition to agents, Grammarly is introducing AI Chat in docs to assist with brainstorming, summarizing, and generating suggestions.

Enhancing Workplace Writing with AI Tools

Grammarly’s AI agents are designed to assist professionals with writing tasks in the workplace while maintaining their unique voice and credibility. For instance, a marketing director can leverage the Reader Reactions feature to gauge how various audiences might respond to an announcement. Following this, the Expert Review tool can provide insights on how well the content aligns with industry standards.
