How players need to prepare before launch

GTA 6 pre-loading begins November 10 on PS5 and Xbox. Rockstar Games says the download will require up to 212 GB, depending on the device, giving players a reason to check their available console storage before the game’s November 19 launch. PlayStation 5 downloads will open at midnight in each player’s local time zone, while Xbox Series X|S downloads will begin simultaneously worldwide at midnight GMT. Code-in-box versions for both consoles are expected to reach retailers from November 12. On November 19, Rockstar will add a printable GTA 6 cover-art poster and a map of Leonida to its official website for free download. It will cost $0.99 separately or be included as a free gift with any store purchase.

Both platforms therefore begin pre-loading nine days before release. The pre-load lets players download the game ahead of release, though access begins only at launch. The starting time differs between platforms. Players planning to download the game in advance will need sufficient storage and time to complete the transfer before launch. Downloading early gives players time to complete the transfer, particularly on slower internet connections. These include a download code, so buyers should allow time to download the game before release. A double-sided physical poster will follow shortly after launch through the Rockstar Store.
