Krafton partners IIT Madras for game development program
Krafton has partnered with IIT Madras to launch KIGI Academy, a six-month game development programme that will train an initial cohort of 30 students. It will begin with a 16-week, on-site learning phase at IIT Madras, followed by an eight-week residency at Krafton India’s headquarters in Bengaluru. The inaugural cohort will have 30 students. Of these, 10 will be selected for the residential phase through an application process involving applications through the IIT Madras placement portal, screening and personal interviews.
The programme will cover areas including coding, game design, UI/UX, art and product development, with training split between the IIT Madras campus and Krafton India’s Bengaluru headquarters. The fully funded programme will run for six months. The first phase will focus on core game development skills using the Unity engine, with an emphasis on mobile gaming. Students will work on collaborative projects and weekly builds during the course. The second phase will give selected students exposure to game production processes. Participants will work towards developing and showcasing a final vertical-slice game, which represents a playable section demonstrating the intended features and experience of a larger game. The programme is open to IIT Madras students from engineering disciplines. This includes third- and fourth-year Bachelor’s and Dual Degree students, as well as postgraduate and Master’s students. Prior experience in game development is not required.

Krafton Partners with IIT Madras for Game Development Mentorship
Krafton India has launched the KIGI Academy, which will offer students mentorship from industry professionals and insights into the company’s game development practices. High-performing participants may be considered for full-time roles at Krafton India.
This initiative is modeled after Krafton Jungle, a game development training program initiated in Korea in 2022. Mentors from the original program will also support developers involved in the KIGI Academy.
This marks KIGI Academy’s inaugural academic partnership with IIT Madras, which includes collaborative events such as Rendezvous, technical festivals, and game jams.
