Tecno has launched the Pova 8 Pro 5G smartphone in India. The handset brings a new rear-panel display, a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED screen and AI-powered features to its Pova smartphone lineup. Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G also focuses on AI-based call management, including the ability to record, transcribe and summarise calls. The Pova 8 Pro 5G will go on sale in India from August 21, starting at Rs 49,999.
The smartphone is aimed at users looking for a different design, with the company’s signature Triangle camera layout and an Alive Matrix Display on the back.
The biggest design feature of the Pova 8 Pro 5G is the Alive Matrix Display on the rear panel. The Pova 8 Pro 5G features a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED display.
Tecno says the panel is designed to offer clear visibility outdoors while also providing eye-friendly dimming for use in darker surroundings. Tecno says it can record, transcribe and summarise regular and WhatsApp calls in English, Hindi, Bengali and Marathi. It is a dot-matrix screen designed to show useful information rather than simply act as a decorative element. The display can show battery status, timers and notifications. It also offers a smart caller ID feature that can flag suspected spam calls before users answer them. When the phone is placed face-down, the rear display can turn into a desk clock. For photography, the phone gets a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording. The camera system also includes AI-based features such as AI Auto Zoom, 3D Photo and Motion Trail. The phone’s other major feature is its AI call assistant. The feature can also turn conversations into actionable tasks, organise shared documents and prioritise contacts based on intent and payment status.
Pova 8 Pro 5G price and availability
The Pova 8 Pro 5G starts at Rs 49,999 in India. It will be available from August 21, 2026, through Flipkart and retail outlets nationwide. Those interested can also get No Cost EMI for up to 18 months, with EMIs starting at Rs 2,777 per month. Tecno is offering a Rs 3,000 instant cashback on eligible credit card, debit card and UPI transactions, bringing the effective price down to Rs 46,999.
