Google Pixel 11's exclusive anti-endless scrolling feature is coming: The wider industry impact

A standout Digital Wellbeing feature designed to curb endless app scrolling is no longer locked exclusively to the Google Pixel 11. Known as Pause Point, the feature originally debuted as a signature capability for Google ‘s newest flagship lineup, but it is now expanding to older Pixel smartphones via the Android 17 QPR1 update – and is already beginning to appear on third-party devices such as OnePlus, a report has said.

The expansion brings fresh relief to users struggling with screen time and looking for automatic interventions to break the cycle of continuous, compulsive scrolling, according to Android Authority.

First announced by Google in May ahead of its annual I/O developer conference, Pause Point is an addition to Google’s built-in Digital Wellbeing suite. The feature operates as an active speed bump against ‘doomscrolling’.

Pause Point has been confirmed running on a OnePlus 13R running the ColorOS 17 beta, marking its first documented appearance on an Android device running an external manufacturer skin. Now, the feature is spreading beyond Google’s own hardware footprint.

” its successful operation on ColorOS indicates that the capability is preparing for a broader, general rollout across Android 17 handsets equipped with Google’s Digital Wellbeing package While Google’s official support documentation still states that Pause Point “is available on Pixel 11 series running Android 17 and later.
