Google has announced a series of new AI-focused collaborations and funding commitments aimed at strengthening India’s healthcare, research and startup ecosystem, as the technology giant seeks to support the country’s broader artificial intelligence ambitions.

The announcements were made during Google’s”Lab to Impact” dialogue held alongside the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where the company outlined plans spanning healthcare, digital public infrastructure, academic research and AI innovation.

The company also announced a $2 million founding grant for the Indic Language Technologies Research Hub at IIT Bombay, which will focus on advancing AI technologies for India’s linguistic diversity. Google also announced a collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA) to convert millions of fragmented and unstructured medical records into the internationally recognised FHIR standard.

Google said Indian startups are increasingly using its Gemma family of open AI models, and added that companies such as Gnani.AI and CoRover.AI have received support to expand AI access for Indian language users.
