Reliance Jio has launched JioPC as a standalone subscription service, making its cloud-computing offering available to anyone with an internet connection regardless of which telecom or broadband provider they use. What JioPC actually offers

The service, previously restricted to JioHome broadband subscribers, is now open to consumers across India who want to extend the life of an aging computer without buying new hardware.

Setting up JioPC takes less than five minutes, with no data migration required, no new hardware to install, and no downtime during setup, according to Jio. JioPC brings cloud computing power to a user’s existing device, giving them access to up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage without needing to replace the physical computer itself. Jio is positioning the service specifically for computers that are three to four years old and have started slowing down, running low on storage, or falling behind on operating system updates — offering an alternative to buying new hardware or paying for expensive upgrades.

Since JioPC handles computing-intensive AI processing on Jio’s cloud infrastructure rather than on the local device, the company says even a computer as old as eight years can access the performance and storage needed to run today’s AI-powered applications — without any new hardware or upgrades, just a cloud connection.
