Google Wallet has launched a new feature that enables users to track their online orders seamlessly. This functionality eliminates the need to navigate between various retailer websites, courier applications, and email confirmations. By integrating with Gmail, Google Wallet automatically retrieves order receipts, tracking numbers, and live shipping updates, consolidating all relevant information in one convenient location. This enhancement allows users to monitor eligible deliveries directly within the Wallet app, enhancing the overall online shopping experience.
Things to know before using the feature
Google has not announced when the feature will become available in other regions. The feature relies on Google scanning eligible order confirmation emails in Gmail to extract tracking information. Users who do not enable Smart features and personalisation or Package tracking will not see delivery information in Google Wallet. At present, online order tracking in Google Wallet is limited to users in the United States.
The feature is currently available only to users in the United States and requires Gmail’s Smart features and personalisation and Package tracking settings to be enabled. Once these permissions are turned on, Google Wallet automatically surfaces upcoming deliveries on its home screen and provides direct access to package tracking information. Before using the feature, users need to ensure the required Gmail settings are enabled. Go to Settings and select your Google account. Enable Smart features and personalisation (also referred to as Smart features in other Google products), allowing Google Wallet to access order information from Gmail.
