Zelenskyy calls Russia sanctions relief without de-escalation deal ‘obvious weakness’
“Ukraine has not carried out strikes on Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general for the two days since the American President announced an energy ceasefire.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday that Kyiv has not attacked Russian oil refineries for two days following US President Donald Trump’s declaration of an “energy ceasefire” between Ukraine and Russia. His remarks came two days after US President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an immediate “energy ceasefire” in the war, which began on February 24, 2022. In response, Zelenskyy said the announcement was “news to me” but added that Kyiv was ready to abide by the ceasefire provided Moscow did the same.
But Russia did not heed the American President. During this time, the Russians have attacked both our energy facilities and our critical infrastructure,” Zelenskyy wrote on X. Russia’s defence ministry, meanwhile, rejected Zelenskyy’s allegation that Russian forces had targeted Ukrainian energy facilities in overnight attacks.
